Switching accountant is easier than you think

Slow replies, surprise invoices, zero visibility on your numbers: many business owners stay with their accountant out of fear of change. Yet your accounting records belong to you, and a well-prepared transfer costs you almost no effort. Here's how it works, and what we take care of.

Signs it's time to switch

  • You wait days, sometimes weeks, for an answer to a simple question.
  • You only see your figures once a year, at closing time.
  • Your accountant's invoices vary without explanation.
  • You re-enter data your accountant should already have.
  • Your VAT returns are filed at the last minute, sometimes late.
Procedure

How the switch works

1

Free assessment (30 min)

We review your situation (legal form, VAT, payroll, volume of documents) and send you a clear quote within 48 hours.

2

Termination of your current engagement

You inform your accountant in writing, respecting the notice period in your contract. If you wish, we provide a template letter.

3

File handover

With your consent, we request all documents from your former accountant: annual accounts, general ledger, VAT returns, payslips, correspondence with authorities. You don't have to go back and forth.

4

Getting started

We take over the balances, give you access to the Digital Admin app, and update the powers of attorney with the tax office, the FTA (VAT) and the social insurance fund.

When to switch?

January 1st — the ideal time

The fiscal year starts cleanly with us; your former accountant completes the year-end closing, or we take it over if you prefer. For a January 1st switch, the right time to decide is October–November.

Mid-year — also possible

We take over the entries at a specific date (often the end of a VAT quarter) and ensure continuity. A bit more handover work, but no disruption for you.

What you should know

Your documents belong to you. Accounting records, general ledger, annual accounts: your former accountant must return them and report on their mandate. You must keep them for 10 years.

An engagement can in principle be terminated at any time. However, check the notice period in your contract: termination at an "inopportune time" may give rise to compensation.

The auditor is a separate matter. If your company has an auditor, changing it follows a different procedure (registration with the commercial register). We explain this during the assessment.
